The creation of Miguel Vicéns and John Paul Valverde, Campo is Oak Cliff's latest cute-house-turned-cute-restaurant. A true nose-to-tail restaurant, it makes only a few concessions to timid palates, featuring brains and bones and guts. Aside from offal, there are airy chorizo fritters, roast chicken with crisp skin and braised short rib in a wine-laden sauce, but what you should really order is the pickled lamb's-tongue salad, which eats like a sonnet. If they have it, that is — the menu changes often. The bar at Campo is romantic, thanks to the low lighting of three dangling red lampshades and rich wooden textures. On the other side of the bar, bartender Cody mixes drinks created by The Usual owner Brad Hensarling and himself. “The drink menu will change seasonally,” Cody says while delivering a cinnamon-infused whiskey.
If you were planning on dining at Campo this weekend you'll need to find other plans. News of the restaurant's closure is spreading like and Internet bushfire on Eater, Escape Hatch and other food blo... More »
