If Scottsdale had a couple more Ho's like this one, it might be on its way to outclassing La-La Land. The hotel is pure George Jetson-Googie-Mid-Century swank, a cherry spot, with the kind of finger-poppin' pizzazz that cost $80 mil to re-create. Ho's Café ZuZu aims to put you in the way-back machine, with nostalgic noshes like mac 'n' cheese, meat loaf and mashed pots, and chicken and dumplings. The results are hit or miss, but the hotel's so bleedin' hip that it makes up for the menu's occasional errors. Sort of like a V-8 '57 Chevy that gets 10 miles per gallon, but is oh-so-sweet a ride.

When we're drinking a cosmo, we want to feel girly, giddy, and a little retro. The bar at Café ZuZu, the bright restaurant at the Hotel Valley Ho that specializes in stylin' '50s-era comfort food, has just the right vibe. And the bartenders, thank God, know how to do this pink lady to perfection. Tart and sweet at the same time, it's the perfect drink for spring evenings by the pool, fall nights by the fireside, and just about every time in between. More »
There's something inherently difficult about trying to take your dad out for brunch. In a city where there's an IHOP or a Denny's on almost every corner, it's easy to fall back on sub-standard breakfast fare and tell yourself Dad doesn't know any better. Don't fall into the trap. Cafe Zuzu at the Valley Ho Hotel offers the same comfort food as the chain slop house, but in a much cleaner, more pleasing environment. We particularly like the Ho's thickly cut Virginia bacon, and the Denver o... More »
