Attached to the Upper West Side's Neue Gallery, which showcases German and Austrian art and design, Cafe Sabarsky offers up genuine Viennese food that goes well beyond normal 'museum cafes.' The interior, with its high, dark walls and ceilings, along with heavily mirrored walls, is something to behold, and the food is just as good. Dishes like cheddar sausage and beef goulash are available for those with hefty appetites, but plenty of sandwiches and desserts are available, too. Those desserts might be the highlight, actually: typical ones (apple strudel, quark cheesecake) sit comfortably next to more authentic Austrian fare, such as mozarttorte, a chocolate cake with pistachio and nougat. The entire affair is pretty fancy, though, and makes for more of a destination rather than an add-on to a last-minute weekend museum trip. --Shane Barnes
