Description

Eating at leisurely Café Monarch about as personal a dining experience you can have, next to actually eating at someone's home. You're really in chef-owner Christopher Van Arsdale's hands when you eat here, as the man does everything from cooking to dish-washing. There's a printed menu of Mediterranean-inspired appetizers, sandwiches, and salads at lunch, but don't be surprised if he asks about your preferences and goes off on a creative tangent — that's half the fun of it.

He's your chef, your waiter, and your busboy all wrapped up in a gracious package. Enjoy your meal on the garden patio or inside the small dining room, where you can watch him bustle around... When you visit Café Monarch, you're entering Christopher Van Arsdale's domain. After spending years as a personal chef, Van Arsdale realized his dream of opening his own place, and he's created an atmosphere that's so friendly and intimate that it's almost like dining...
