Café Maude debuted in 2007 with a simple idea: Be as chic as Chanel, as hip as a San Francisco DJ, and as affordable as T.G.I.Friday's. Sound good to you? Yeah, you and everyone else in town. If you do ever get in, some of the highlights you'll find: creative cocktails; a jewel-toned room vibrating with live music or the choices of a live DJ played just loud enough to make you feel like you're at a party, but not too loud for conversation; a good wine list; exciting non-alchoholic drinks (be sure to get any birthday girls the one garnished with a marshmallow peep); a gorgeous cheese plate; modestly priced entrees of wood-fired meats; and French fries served with a cheese fondue sauce for dipping. Reservations are recommended, not for the full-service breakfast and lunch, but for dinner--seriously, dude, they're serving hyper-mega-gourmet cheese fries to people drinking high-octane cocktails and eating budget steaks. This is not your parents' Edina-adjacent Minneapolis; call first.

Craft cocktails with the utmost care and some of the best food in town! I feel so lucky that this place is in my neighborhood. Things to try - Cocktails - Zeke's Wife, Red Hook, Black Bunny, Rye Old Fashioned (with a gorgeous hand sculpted ice ball) Food - Man...where to start... Hoison Spare Ribs, Duck Confit Salad, Great Burgers, Pan Roasted Monkfish, Ribeye... I've never been disappointed here. If you like cocktails (of course you do), sit at the bar. It's worth it to watch them make the mind bending magical potions before you put them in your belly. Oh...and the live music tues and wed is always among the best talent in town...and never a cover. A reservation is recommended in my experience. Cheers!
In the mood for something light? If you can manage to pick your way through the convivial crowd to the bar at Café Maude, the restaurant has a number of ways to reward you for your trouble. On a cool spring evening, try the smoky, sensual roasted corn chowder with avocado and bacon, and let the soup warm you from the inside out. Or nosh on a nutty, sophisticated piece of bucheron cheese with fig molasses ($4) while you suck down the restaurant's trademark Black Bunny ($8.50), a blackberry mojito assembled with a precision that would put most molecular biologists to shame. Between the seasonal greens, artfully selected cheeses, and the grilled flatbreads, Maude presents the hungry snacker with an embarrassment of riches that can turn a nocturnal nibble into a full-on feast.
Easly one of the best restaurants in town. Great food and service but the prices is what keeps bring me back. Best value in town!
Remember back, not so long ago, when bartenders poured their mixers from mass-produced bottles, when juices weren't squeezed fresh, and when any sweet alcoholic drink tasted like a liquid lollipop? Thank heavens for La Belle Vie's bartender Johnny Michaels, one of the first locals to elevate his beverages to haute cuisine status. We've recently been enamored with the drinks created by Michaels's protégé, Pip Hanson, who manages the bar at Café Maude. (The two also have a... More »
