The saddle of glossy caramel. The big, smiling pecans. The moonless-midnight black chocolate cake. Yeah, there are probably some people who go to this giant, cafeteria-style restaurant for the coffee drinks, the wine and beer, the salads, the sandwiches, the breads, the pizzas, the 50-something-bottle wine list, even the High Tea served each afternoon. It's hard to see past : Cafe Latté's glistening Italian fruit tarts and the shiny chocolate tortes, the lingonberry and lemon scones or the Dakota bread, but this bustling, urbane cafeteria has been serving up some of the Cities' best salads, soups, stews, curries and sandwiches pretty darn cheap for over 20 years. An anchor in one of St. Paul's oldest neighborhoods, Victoria's Crossing, Cafe Latté caters to busy shoppers, professionals, students, moms and grandmas with kids.... More »
Practically synonymous with towering cakes (such as the famous chocolate caramel turtle cake), Cafe Latté is not necessarily the first place you think of when it comes to salad. So, here's a gentle reminder: wheat berry, broccoli, and cheddar; lemon, basil, and shrimp; caesar with grilled tuna. Always fresh, ever inventive, these salads are tossed to order as you head down the line with your tray, picking up bread and soup or a sandwich on the way. Eat in with a glass of wine or beer...
