Vegetarians love Indian food – with good reason. Nearly two-fifths of the Asian subcontinent’s population doesn’t eat meat, so it’s safe to say that Indian cooks know how to bring out the best flavor from vegetables. Café Krishna’s all-vegetarian menu is far from bland. Curry dishes like baigan bhartha (baked epplant crushed with peas and spices), vegetable kurma (fresh garden veggies cooked in cashew gravy), and kadai bhindi masala (onion, tomatoes, peppers, and okra sautéed in spices and garnished with herbs) will wake up your taste buds. For a bowl of flavorful heat, try the rasam, a traditional South Indian lentil and tamarind soup that will clean out even the most stuffed up sinuses. For a light lunch or snack, share one of twenty varieties of dosa, crispy rice and lentil flour crepes folded around fillings like potatoes, onions, peas, carts, chilies, spinach, and paneer cheese and served with sambar and an assortment of chutneys. Cafe Krishna has two locations, both on Chandler Boulevard.
