Description

The only sure things in this life are death, taxes and the brunch lines outside of Café Habana. If you have the patience to wait out on Prince Street with the designer-clad hordes you will be rewarded with Latin-inspired dishes like huevos con chorizo and the Sloppy Pepe (an open-faced sandwich featuring pulled pork hash, eggs and habanero-pickled onions), which all ring in at under $10. The wait isn't entirely due to the restaurant's popularity; it's also due to the size. This diner is tiny, just a handful of barstools and a few tables that leave you elbow-to-elbow with your fellow diners and the waitstaff. If the crowd and the noise have you frazzled, relax with a frozen margarita or two, available in mango, guava and strawberry flavors. Dinner has a more Cuban slant, with entrees such as the citrus-marinated roast pork, shrimp in spicy garlic sauce and a hefty Cubano sandwich.—Keith Wagstaff
