Description

Pleasant large Mission storefront where spicy Ethiopian stews are served family-style, heaped on spongy, slighty sour injera bread layered on big platters. Additional rolls of injera are provided to tear off and use to pick up bites of kitfo (buttery chopped beef, served raw or lightly cooked), tibsie derho (chicken pieces sautéed with tomatoes and lots of garlic), tibsie shrimp (sautéed with bell peppers, tomatoes, and onions), and a wonderful lamb dish, tsebhi begee, scented with cardamom and chiles. (No knives and forks are provided.) Wash down the spicy fare with beer or Ethiopian honey wine, called tej.
