Is there a better quiche in Seattle than the ones at this hole-in-the-wall on a leafy street in Ballard? If you need incentives to drag yourself out of bed (and wait in line outside the door), you won't find many better than this. Baker James Miller's apple Danishes and pains au chocolat are good—and Besalu's brioches and croissants are outstanding, prompting celebrated food writer Corby Kummer of The Atlantic to declare, "Besalu has the best croissants in the country."
The buttery, flaky freshly made pastries create parking chaos in Ballard Wednesday-Sunday. The quiche slice is small and it's expensive but thank god because if you ate as much as you wanted to they would have to roll you out of the front door.
