Description

Butterfield's may look like a typical big-box restaurant, but it's pleasant, airy, and immaculate inside. Small details make it better than average, like extra-strong Boyd's coffee, fresh cream, and just-squeezed orange juice to start things off. The sprawling menu covers all the breakfast standards, but there are also unusual variations, such as portobello benedict with pesto Hollandaise sauce. If you're in the mood for dessert-as-breakfast, the mind-blowing oven-baked apple pancakes, dusted with powdered sugar, are worth the 30-minute wait.

    Unlike many restaurants, where breakfast offerings are off-limits by 10:30 or 11 a.m., Butterfield's starts dishing it up at the ungodly hour of 6 a.m. and doesn't stop until midafternoon.
