This rambling 50-year-old International District restaurant, which looks like a combination between the Japan Pavilion at Disney World and the Haunted Mansion, once attracted everyone from World War II vets to Japanese royalty. Recently it's been more famous for its raucous karaoke than its cuisine. The service, though, is still as sweet as ebi, and it's one of the few places in town where you can get shabu-shabu and sukiyaki (cook-it-yourself beef hot pots, now with kobe-style beef). Eaten in one of the restaurant's semi-enclosed booths, the shabu-shabu becomes an especially intimate meal.
