Description

The walls of Burp Castle depict a most jovial scene of debauchery: bartenders dressed as medieval monks waddling around and serving pints to an eternally laughing crowd of townspeople. The patrons of Burp Castle, though, are comparatively calm as they drink from a regularly rotating tap of Belgian ales, saisons, and pilsners. These beverages are served by a bartender occasionally dressed in monk garb, for added effect; it is no mistake that Burp Castle is the self-anointed "Temple of Beer Worship." On select weekday evenings, free French fries are served: perfect belching material to clear the stomach for another brew.

At the risk of alienating Belgians, it seems their most important culinary contributions have been frites and beer. Get them both at the aptly named Burp Castle. On Sundays, Mondays, and Wednesdays, the bartenders serve free fries from Pommes Frites along with scores of Belgian beers. More »

  • 2007 | Best happy hour for silent fatties

If you're like me--have trouble with authority but love beer--the happy-hour deal at Burp Castle could help you get over your bitterness toward teachers and cops. When you start having too much fun, you get shushed by bartenders wearing monastic robes. I know that sounds bad, but meanwhile you're eating complimentary frittes fresh from the deep fryer around the corner at Pommes Frittes and drinking fantastically delicious (and highly alcoholic) Belgian beer for $1 to $2 off. Unless... More »
