If you're looking for a slice of Coral Gables from the 1950s or '60s, enjoy a slice of pie at Burger Bobs. The burger joint shares the same building as the pro shop for the Granada Golf Course. It has about the best view of the opening hole of any golf course in the city. And though the location is special, it's only part of what has made Burger Bob's among the most famous eateries in the City Beautiful. All of the town's movers and shakers show up to discuss business in the morning over a cup of coffee and hotcakes. The menu is classic American diner fare: egg plates and pancakes for breakfast ($3.75 with bacon, sausage, or ham and $3.25 for a short stack, respectively), and burgers, melts, and standard sandwiches for lunch. A cheeseburger with bacon is only $4.75, while a patty melt (American cheese and onions) is the most expensive item on the menu at $7.50. The décor is unremarkable, but its simplicity adds to the allure. There is a small counter with stools for those who want to get in and out quickly.
