Description

A blackboard menu. A shiny silver kitchen. An actual logo. Tiny Bun Mee is San Francisco's first Vietnamese sandwich shop to hire an interior decorator, and it shows. Owner Denise Tran has come up with salads and banh mi that range from the classic (griled pork) to innovative (turmeric-scented fried fish, one of the shop's best sandwiches). She gets the warm, light bread right, and the cooks stuff the sandwich with the right proportion of cilantro, long strands of pickled vegetables, and a few green chiles hot enough to leave you feeling like your lips have welts on them.
