Founded in Glendale in 1971 by the Peterson brothers, the Bull & Bush has been a family affair ever since and is now run by a second generation of Petersons. Modeled on an old London pub -- with low ceilings, dark wood, brass rails and a fireplace -- this comfortable spot serves everything from English pub specialties to classic American fare. And for the past decade or so, it's also been one of the best craft breweries in town, turning out an ever-increasing lineup of award-winning beers. But the old-timers have always made the newbies feel welcome, whether it's at the long bar, on the patio or in the dining room.
Here's the primary problem with ultra-cheap steaks: They're annoyingly thin -- too thin to prepare mid-rare -- and for those of us who prefer a mooing cow to a muffled cow, that just doesn't cut it. But you don't have to pay upwards of $30 for a great piece of meat. For a bargain-priced steak that's thick, beastly and full of beefy flavor, head to the appropriately named Bull & Bush, which serves a twelve-ounce baseball center-cut sirloin that's liberally rubbed with salt and... Brothers Dave and Erik Peterson love beer. That's why they added a brewery in 1997 to the venerable Glendale watering hole that their dad and uncle started in 1971. This year, the Petersons took that love and hopped it up with a tableside trick -- they're calling it Whole Hops Infusions -- that allows customers to experiment with the subtleties of beer's fragrant flower. Here's how it works: Order a Bull & Bush beer on tap and then pick one of five hops varietals grown by Jack... More »
The Bull & Bush is the best sports bar in town for game-watching because of what's not on the television: glare. This pub's dark wood and low light make the twenty -- count 'em, twenty! -- glorious flat-screens seem somehow brighter than standard televisions. The games broadcast on them appear like floating visions of victory for fans, with no garish wires or other distractions, just pure HD color against a mahogany-stained backdrop. Sightlines are also crucial at any good... More »
Bull & Bush is like a heavily fortified man cave, stocked with all things needed for a testosterone fest. Whether you're holed up inside or enjoying the shaded patio, it's a dark spot, full of heavy, masculine furniture and TVs tuned to sports. The menu boasts pub food and hefty burgers, and the list is paired with the dozens of varieties of whiskey that line the shelves, as well as a vast array of beers in bottles and on tap. Those tap lines support the brewery's own concoctions,... More »
Celebrating forty years of independent family ownership this year, the Bull & Bush keeps getting better, whether it's with award-winning beers like Man Beer and the Legend of the Liquid Brain Imperial Stout, its cellar parties that pull together vintage bottles of rare and hard-to-find brews from other breweries, or the layered atmosphere that mixes old-school Glendale regulars, families and downtowners looking for a night away from the madness. There's an extensive menu of comfort food... More »
The Bull & Bush is one of a handful of brewpubs in town that sell growlers -- 64-ounce glass containers -- that you can fill up and take with you. At this 39-year-old brewpub, you spend $12 for your first growler and then bring it back for $8 refills (of anything on tap aside from special releases). But on Tuesdays, Bull & Bush knocks a buck off both those prices. And if you get a growler punch card, your tenth refill is on the house. More »
The Bull & Bush, which is modeled after an old London pub with its low ceilings, dark wood and brass rails, didn't start out as a brewpub. But then, back when the Peterson brothers founded the B&B in 1971, there weren't any brewpubs in Colorado. Instead, it racked up another first when it hooked up to satellite dishes for sports programming, arguably becoming the country's original sports bar. That worked when Glendale was the swinging-singles center of Denver, but as the... More »

While the brewpub industry has fallen flat in recent years, the Bull & Bush proves that you can teach an old dog new tricks. Now more than thirty years old, the Bull was modeled after the 300-years-older Bull & Bush near London and spent its first few decades as a classic Glendale watering hole -- which means the amount you drank (and who you drank it with) was sometimes more important than what you drank. But the introduction of a microbrewery three years ago poured new life into this... More »
The Bull & Bush's award-winning India Pale Ale gets even better when it's served off the beer engine at the B&B. The cask-style Man is a hazy, golden nectar for hop-heads, loaded with verdant, thrilling hops flavors and a complement of pale malt tastes and alcohol. Yeah, Man. More »
This long-lived watering hole combines three of bar culture's better merits -- alcohol, televised sports and a convivial pub vibe -- for a pleasing new hybrid. But it's the in-house beer that elevates the Bull & Bush to all-star status and keeps regulars coming back year after year. Head brewer Gabe Moline crafts a long list of exceptional beers, most of them English-style ales rich with hops, flavor and true-to-style character. Moline's ESB, IPA and strong ales are superb, as are the B&B's... More »

This place is not worth the trip. We have been to this place on numerous occassions and really the main reason we frequent this place is that it is close to our house and they do have pretty good beer. The service is usually brutal, the carpets are filthy and on our last visit we questioned the price of a side salad as it was about $3 more than usual. When the owner/manager stopped by to speak with us we were told that we are always a problem there and he immediately became offensive, told us that he would pay for our meal as long as we never came back. What a great way to do business and deal with customers who have spent money there on numerous occassions. Not to mention that the said "side salad" was brought with the meal and my fiance' found 2 hairs in it. That is always appealing yet we did not complain about it. To add to that I had ordered their burger of the month and was given a chicken sandwich.
Don't waste your time with this place, unfriendly, unsanitary and completely unsatisfactory.
