Beacon's Closet, you have company. A nationwide used clothing shop that started in Tucson, the peculiarly-named Buffalo Exchange chain boasts many branches in the West but only two on the East Coast: one in Philadelphia, and now a new one in Wiliamsburg. Like Beacon's, they buy, sell, and trade used clothing. Strangely enough, one of the Swedish founders chose the word "buffalo" because she thought it sounded American.
We just can't tear ourselves away from Buffalo Exchange. The resale chain has numerous shops spread across 15 states (if you're ever in Seattle, that one rocks), and their outposts in the East Village, Williamsburg, and Chelsea are transformative experiences.
