  • 2007 | Best Brunch With Grandma

For decades, the Brown Palace has served its signature afternoon tea to legions of Denver's blue-haired bluebloods. But while perfectly brewed Darjeeling, tea cakes, finger sandwiches and scones with Devonshire cream may not be your cup of tea, so to speak, take a look around the Brown Palace's lobby atrium any afternoon between noon and four and you'll understand exactly why tea here has become such a tradition. At peak hours, the place is packed with well-dressed ladies and jacketed... More »

  • 2006 | BEST MARTINI CART

There are few experiences more genteel than enjoying cocktails in the Brown Palace Atrium: The space is casual, yet has a well-heeled charm augmented by the tinkling piano, super-comfy seating and a fabulous ceiling eight stories above, complete with skylights and chandeliers. And then the martini cart, covered with elite liqueurs and elegant silver shakers, drifts tableside to mix up a little something for you. The Brown offers cart service during the cocktail hour nightly except on Sunday,... More »

  • 2002 | Best Martini

The Brown Palace has always stirred up a nostalgic longing for the martini's golden era, when the drink wasn't mixed with chocolate or blueberries and the concept of "class" meant more than a big wad of disposable income. When the hotel's Atrium, always an elegant choice for tea or a quiet cocktail, recently revamped its after-work menu options to include such tempting tidbits as house-smoked salmon tart and chilled, poached asparagus, it wisely retained its popular martini cart, which... • 2000 | Best place downtown to hail a cab late at night

There are usually a couple of cabs lingering in front of this Denver landmark, but if not, the Brown Palace hotel doorman will almost always help you get one if you're stuck downtown. Just don't be rude: Doormen can get a little ornery when an obnoxious drunk who isn't a hotel guest starts demanding service. The nice thing is that when the upscale Brown Palace calls for a cab, it'll show up long before it would at whatever dive you were really drinking in. More »

The Brown Palace has been open for business every day since it debuted in 1892. I haven't been around quite that long, but since I was a child, I've always loved the grandeur of the old hotel. As a little girl, I looked forward to our annual ladie... More »

Ladies’ Night at the Brown Palace

Ask me how I ended up at the Brown Palace four times in the past two weeks. Go ahead. Ask me. The answer? Because I am one lucky sonofabitch, that's how. Because somehow, out of the tattered, twitchy, gin-soaked, uneducated, ass-backward mess ... More »

It is no wonder the Brown Palace is the oldest hotel in Denver, because it is fabulous! I have celebrated so many special events at this historic hotel from baby showers, debutante balls, and wedding brunches! A great place to brunch on a date or with family when your idea of brunch is not how many bottomless mimosas you can have before noon. The spa next door is the best in denver with soothing waiting rooms and specialty treatments like the mud wraps and hot stone massages make you never want you 80 minutes to end. Still havent tried the infamous high tea served in the lobby.
