Description

New Times Broward-Palm Beach's Description

You have to walk through the main lobby of the historic resort to get to the Seafood Bar - an impressive trek that primes you for the beautiful oceanfront bar and dining room. As befitting the venue, the fishiest of the Breakers' restaurants is at once classy and casual and accommodates a variety of diners. The after-5 gang gathers here frequently - it's hard to beat relaxing with a drink with the mesmerizing ocean waves outside or the active aquarium bar indoors, where the bartop is an aquarium and live fish swim just inches under your cocktail. Some of the best bartenders on the island are here, and the master sommeliers (yes, plural) at the resort make it fun to find an offbeat bottle or glass from the award-winning wine list. With TVs scattered around showing the latest game or tournament, it's an upscale sports bar too, perfect for just a drink and a nosh. Appetizers range from shrimp and grits to jumbo lump crab cakes. A number of fresh fish dishes, pasta, and lobster are featured. It's pricey - this is a Palm Beach icon. But the insiders know about the half-price menu, served 11 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., at the Late Night Happy Hour.
