New Times Broward-Palm Beach's Description

Good news! There's no need to schlep all the way down to Miami (AKA Cuba) to get authentic, tasty Cuban eats, like those yummy sandwiches with ham, marinated pork, Swiss cheese, and pickles. But why grab a sandwich when you can really dig into some hearty stuff like savory sautéed shrimp in garlic sauce, crispy bistec à la Milanesa (top round that has been seasoned, breaded, and deep-fried), or the truly inspired arroz con pollo? Pair any of the aforementioned with one of the natural fruit milk shakes or juices made from papaya or mango, then end your pig-out session with steaming cups of café Cubano, cortaditas, and café con leches and a jiggly serving of caramel or coconut flan. Now, Havana isn't ultramodern, by any means, nor does it do a Disney job of replicating its namesake city, but the two-story dining room is comfortable, simple, and relatively tasteful. But really, the best part about this place is the 24-hour walkup window. We know there's nothing like feeding that 3 a.m. Cuban craving with a steaming box of smoky croquetas, vaca frita, and sweet plantains.

Went to dinner last night at the Havana Restaurant. Had the Bistec a la Milanesa (cutlet of choice top round steak, seasoned in Cuban spices, lightly breaded and fried. Topped with Spanish sauce, ham and melted mozzarella cheese). My sister, who was with me, chose the Cuban Sandwich, which she said was absolutely delicious! Both our dinners were enjoyable and the service made it... More >>

I was at Havana yesterday for lunch and it was so good I have to comeback, I had the lechon asado first time, great flavor I even took a side of it home, I really became Havana's fan, good work guys. Fernando Alvarez

Probably best Cuban place in the county

Stop by the 24/7 walk up window. We like the Cuban sandwich and Cafe Cubano after a late night.

Yummy Cuban food and great service.

The 24-hour walk-up window is a saving grace for local, late-night drinkers, but head inside for food that hasn't been sitting around for hours. -WV

Succulent roast pork, Havana-style steak and fresh seafood are standards. Order from the restaurant's takeout window and have a party on the beaches of Palm Beach County.
