Creolina's Dixie Takeout - CLOSED
Plantation, FL 33325
New Times Broward-Palm Beach's Description
Chef/owner Mark Sulzinski's Cajun and Creole restaurant has managed to survive hurricanes, recession, and three locations since it first opened in 1991, all while continuing to serve down-home Louisiana cooking with a Southern twist. Its current home in the western stretches of Davie may be the most challenging place it has occupied yet. But Creolina's best feature - the ability to transport you to a place at a bountiful, Southern table - remains intact, whether the method of transport is a slice of bourbon-soaked bread pudding or the playful affectations of one of the richest wait staffs in South Florida. Veteran waitress Rosie O'Neal is still there, though playing a diminished role. And the already deep menu of crawfish bisque, etouffee, blackened dolphin, and shrimp piquant is now accompanied by affordably priced Southern favorites like chicken and dumplings, country-fried steak, and ribs. Portions are gigantic, so whether you're eating in or taking it to go, be prepared to finish leftovers the next day.
