Description

Successor to the luckless-but-excellent Heartbreak, Boukies (“Small Bites”) is the Greek equivalent of a tapas bar, offering small plates washed down with an all-Hellenic (and slightly overpriced) wine list. If the weather is good, sit at the sidewalk tables and enjoy such snacks as grilled sardines garnished with tomato confit, deep fried smelts (don’t be afraid to eat the heads), and pitaraki – small fried pies of which spanikopita is the most famous. Served in an oddball-but-effective sauce of red wine and prunes, the meatballs are also worth recommending, and so are the tiny pita sandwiches stuffed with unctuous braised lamb. Alas, the interior is graceless, something like a crowded bus depot.
