Description
Boccalone is all about the salumi - rich, creamy, spicy pancetta, mortadella, guanciale, salami, capocollo, coppa, and other tasty salted pig parts light years from your supermarket's bologna aisle. There's nduja (a sort of spreadable salami), porcheta di testa (garlicky, peppery pig's head), lardo (exactly what it sounds like: cured creamy pork fat), and 20 or so other varieties of porcine goodness. You can enjoy them in a hot or cold panino, as part of a salumi platter, or even ice cream style in a walkaway paper cone. The Ferry Building stall is bright and shiny with impressively stocked display cases and a four-seat counter for onsite snacking. Fresh sausages, ptés, and mortadella hot dogs are available as well.
