Description

Better known as Bobo's, this steakhouse has plush booths, blood-red walls, and a sumptuous mahogany bar. The Cirque du Soleil-meets-Ruth's Chris vibe is more playful than classic, with lavender martinis and artery-clogging appetizers to match the decor. Aside from steak ? oversalted at times, but high quality and consistently cooked ? Bobo's is big on crab, roasted and glazed in butter. The complimentary slabs of garlic bread are a nice touch.

    The location is uninspiring: a boxy two-story building next to a Travelodge on a dull block of Lombard. The décor, which strives for gaiety (red-painted walls, Venetian-inspired lanterns, large dolls based on the Italian jester who inspired the restaurant and Web site's name), is kinda tacky.
