If you're looking for a hip spot to fetch some excellent pizza, Boardwalk Tavern & Pizzeria is your kind of place. This Coconut Grove tiki hut hideout has top-notch fare and service that is on point. From the moment you walk through the doors, you're greeted by the scent of fresh mozzarella. A patio and indoor seating area offer a choice of two different ambiances. And you haven't even been schooled on the pizza yet. At $17.95 for a large 22-inch pie, the restaurant provides a tasty and generous offering. The mozzarella sticks ($5.95) are some of the crispiest and cheesiest you'll ever taste. When it comes to chicken fingers, it is irritating when restaurants go overboard on batter. Boardwalk's nuggets don't fall into this category - the large portion features a well-balanced chicken-to-batter ratio. If calzones (small $8.99, large $13.99) are more your thing, the tavern has some pretty hefty ones, with a variety of toppings to choose from (ham, pepperoni, sausage, bell pepper, spinach, and onion). All in all, Boardwalk provides a casual and exciting dining atmosphere with great food to match. Take note, though, the place can get rowdy late at night.
