The Bluebird Theater started hosting live music in 1994, and it didn't take long for the theater, built in 1913, to become one of the city's best midsized venues. With sculpted capitals, restored Victorian-style paintings and a vaulted ceiling, the place is as much a work of art as any of the touring and local bands that grace its stage. The marquee regularly lights up Colfax with some of the most important names in independent music, as well as lauded locals ready to make the leap from clubs to a bigger stage. In 2006, AEG Live took over the room and made significant upgrades to the production aspects of the place.

Survival tips: Ladies, the bathrooms downstairs are always packed but upstairs there is a bathroom that almost never has a line. Guide to seating, get there semi early stake out your participation level for example: anyone in the first two levels from the stage better be prepared to dance and sweat, third and fourth levels require head bobbing and is good for those wanting to be close to the bar and door for respective drink and smoke breaks, finally the upstairs is for those who want to see the whole stage and enjoy lounging while they are not close to the music or mayhem they miss out on the band�s live energy. I've been here about 6 times and every time I've been amazed at the sound and how many people can fit in this place. The bar is small and sometimes takes a while to get a drink but it doesn't ruin it.
