This establishment, third in the Blue Ribbon empire, offers a beguiling array of small plates, sandwiches, and main courses, making for remarkable flexibility in dining. A recent meal shared with a friend consisted of a bowl of cold potato and leek soup, a caper-dotted plate of parma ham, beets vinaigrette, a trio of unforgettable grilled sardines, and a serving of black olive and roast garlic crostini so generous we took some home. The quirky selection of pastries includes a malted chocolate cake that's the best use of chocolate we've seen this year.
