The Blue Moon in the University District is like a home away from home (or possibly just home) to all kinds—it's often touted as the old haunt of local literary legend Tom Robbins. Thursday through Saturday nights, it hosts live music—heavy on rock and Americana—but days have their own charm, filled with streaming sunlight, plants, walls lined with books, and academics, transients, and grad students immersed in lively conversations. Out front, a scaled-down version of SAM's hammering man lifts a beer to his lips, and the nude rendering of a woman resting on a crescent moon woos would-be patrons. Not that they're hurting for more—the regulars alone could carry the place to 2034 and then some.
