What will the BLT empire look like as it expands without former partner Laurent Tourondel (the LT in that acronym)? BLT Bar & Grill provides a clue. It's massive with a modern, masculine interior, much like the other BLT restaurants. The food, however, is much more casual, a mix of upscaled contemporary American classics along with some a few pizzas and pastas. Meat, like the NY strip steak served in a cognac-green peppercorn sauce, is well represented on the menu, along with handheld bites like a corned beef Reuben and a burger topped with double-smoked bacon and aged cheddar. Check the menu for daily specials, like the curried mussels on Mondays and roast leg of lamb on Sundays. Getting a reservation shouldnąt be too hard, considering the space, located in the W Hotel downtown, features two stories with almost 200 seats. For a quick snack, try something from the less formal bar menu along with a specialty cocktail or one of the 100 different wines.—Keith Wagstaff
