Bleecker Street Pizza

Sure, it doesn?t have a fancy imported wood-burning oven, but Bleecker Street Pizza is still a step above other slice joints. Its prized pie is the Nonna Maria, named after the owner?s grandmother, topped with fresh mozzarella, homemade marinara sauce, parmesan and basil. Other pizzas, available by the slice and whole pie, come topped with ricotta, mushrooms, grilled chicken and more, with the option of creating your own pie for a little extra change. Giant hero sandwiches, calzones, salads and Italian-American classics like chicken parmigiana and baked ziti are also on the small menu. Wash everything down with a tiny single-serving bottle of Merlot or Pinot Grigio, or opt for a bottle of domestic or imported beer. The restaurant itself isn?t anything beautiful to look at, just a few formica tables in a tiny room filled with mirrors and a big Snapple refrigerator, but it?s location right in the middle of the West Village is perfect.—Keith Wagstaff
