Description
The Blarney Rock gushes quintessential Irish dive-bar gruff, even in an area dedicated to tourists. Located within a block of Madison Square Garden, Penn Station, the Manhattan Mall, and a slew of mainstream beer bars, it sticks out as the only place to throw back a cheap pint of Bud or Guinness. Decoration-wise, the bar is composed of '70s wood-panel walls filled with shamrocks and every sports pennant imaginable, including the University of Hawaii's. The day crowd is a mix of out-of-towners and blue-collar New Yorkers; the night crowd is dictated by Madison Square Garden's calendar, so expect like-minded patrons during Knicks games or Iron Maiden concerts.
