Those who hunger for the ecstasy of movement (these people exist) know that if you're a true hip-shaker, all you need is ground. A true dancer or drunk doesn't even need music, but if there is ground and music, there is no stopping him (or her) from kicking, stomping, and twisting.
It's Friday, dancers. Here is where you can show off your pelvic thrust: at "Black Fridays" at Green Room. Guaranteed this is the only place in downtown Fort Lauderdale that will offer new-wave and industrial tunes to dance to -- if you want Third Eye Blind, go to Dicey's; if you want Oasis' "Wonderwall," go to Fat Cat's. Inside Green Room, resident DJs LinderSMASH and Kaos, along with guest DJs, will play bands like Depeche Mode, Talking Heads, Crystal Castles, NIN, and Salem & the Bloody Beetroots. The Green Room said this night would be darker. At the opening, a guy wearing a furry mask hanged from the ceiling by two giant hooks attached to his upper back, like demonic angel wings. Besides the alternative performance art, each Friday includes a mix of interchanging visual landscapes and live performances. There is no cover, and a bonus: You can usually score a drinking token, valid only before midnight, by RSVPing to miguel@jointherevolution.net. Doors open at 10 p.m. for Black Fridays at the Green Room (100 SW Third Ave., Fort Lauderdale). You must be 21. "Like" Green Room on Facebook for more info.
