The longest continually operating gay bar in Denver has expanded its offerings, with different events happening every night of the week. Depending on the night, you can find a buffet, darts, karaoke or burlesque or drag shows. Eighty percent of the performances benefit one charity or another; in more than three decades, BJ's has raised millions. The bar itself is dominated by recessed lighting in green and yellow, illuminating the many trophy cases on the walls and a plentiful selection of booze. The kitchen has been closed for good, but you can still get bar snacks with your mini-bottle of wine. Like any good neighborhood bar, BJ's has plenty of regular customers enjoying their prime seats and old friends. A decent view of the stage, which is cloaked in red curtains when not in use, is available from any seat in the house.
