Description

At this Senegalese restaurant, tackle an order of tiep dien, red snapper cooked with a spiced rice pilaf, or enjoy a rum-laced cocktail and surround yourself with appetizing nibbles such as fried plantains with tamarind sauce, the deep-fried tuna pastries known as pasteles, or clove-and-garlic-seasoned sautéed shrimp. Bissap Baobab is a good place to simply hang out as well as eat. Happy hour - 5:30-6:30 p.m. on weekdays - beckons with half-price drinks, and world music DJs set up every weekend at Little Baobab, the owners' bar right around the corner on 19th St.
