Great sound, classy lighting, and staffers dressed like The Love Boat's Capt. Stubing come together to make this one of the city's finer concert halls. Bimbo's 365 Club is a shrine of mid-20th Century luxury, complete with multiple ornate bars and nudie oil paintings that would be the pride of any erstwhile Rat Pack member. The music programming ranges from international jazz to indie rock, plus the occasional retro dance band to confirm that Bimbo's is the perfect place for anyone who wants to know what it was like to party in the past.
Not many bands have the bravado to sell a $100,000 box set housed in a refrigerator, but then again, the Residents aren't just any band. In a city with a musical history that tends toward the eccentric, this San Francisco outfit enjoys a... More »
Since coming together as Pinback in the early 1990s, Rob Crow and Zach Smith have long been a reticent, enigmatic pair who construct reticent, enigmatic indie rock. Last October's Information Retrieved, the first substantial Pinback release since... More »

It's rare to look forward to going to the bathroom at a rock show, but Bimbo's is definitely the place to be when guitars and nature call at the same time. An Art Deco marvel in North Beach since 1931, Bimbo's doesn't leave its class at the bar with the sharply dressed staff. There are also sharply dressed attendants in the bathroom, waiting to hand over a towel when you're done with your business. And there's more to these faucet fairies than mere nostalgia for a time when people still had... More »
Last October, bereft and confused a mere hour or two after the Giants had lost Game 7, we made our way to Bimbo's, much as our more devout fellow fans trekked to Grace Cathedral. It wasn't long before the rattle of the cocktail shaker, the live samba of Brasil 66, the matchlessly swanky setting, and the comeliness of Dolfina the Fishbowl Girl inspired us to forget our troubles, at least for the evening. Bimbo's has been part of the exuberant San Francisco tradition since it opened at 365... More »
It's like a serious blast from the past!
I saw Issac Delgado there and it was spectacular.
