Big Al's offers them big and smoky for the grizzled workingman. The eponymous sandwich comes with two meats wedged into a po-boy bun. The meat combos extend to the dinners. How about a three-meat meal of turkey, chopped beef and ribs? Everything is served cafeteria-line style, but the station hands are at the disposal of customers. You want a heaping mound of pulled pork with a one-pound, overstuffed potato? It's yours. Big Al's wants you to be happy, not hungry.
I walked in, and was immediately overcome by a delicious smoky aroma. The interior is much nicer and has much more ambiance than the exterior would lead you to believe. It's by no means a five star restaurant, but it's not a hole-in-the-wall either.

As far as ribs go, Big Al's Smokehouse has some of the best I've had in Dallas.

Great BBQ and great service!
I wanted a light lunch the other day, so I went in search of barbecue. Felt like a two-meat kind of day, ya know? I heard Big Al's Smokehouse was a thing to behold, so it was ironic to me that I was having a hard time seeing it as I passed auto... More »
