Glendale's newest neighborhood hangout is packed on the weekends, thanks to affordable dishes that may not knock your socks off but are a cut above the usual chain-restaurant offerings found in this part of the West Valley. Mostly featuring sharable small plates (including bacon-wrapped pork loin, grilled lamb chop, penne pasta, and Kobe sliders), as well as salads and a handful of entrees and sandwiches, Betty's touts its mushroom bar, in which you build your own plate of three mushrooms (portobello, jumbo button, or stuffed) from a somewhat overwhelming list of toppings and stuffings for $12. Service isn't always stellar, but an extensive wine and cocktail list keeps the proceedings convivial at Betty's.
