The German restaurant Berlin Currywurst, in the heart of Silver Lake’s Sunset Junction, specializes in what the Krauts inherently do best: sausages. Choose from eight different types, including bratwurst (pork), rindswurst (beef) and geflugelbratwurst (chicken), as well as two tofu options, all served with plain German bread and homemade organic sauce. Better yet, add side dishes like German fries tossed with minced onions or sauerkraut salad. The currywurst can be customized according to heat levels, which range from one to four – the restaurant warns that you must be 16 or older (or just very daring) to try with the last two. And the sauces can also be blended with fruit, chipotle or garlic flavors. The newer Hollywood location in the unspeakably hip Cahuenga Corridor offers an expanded menu, namely the more-than-dozen German, Belgian and Austrian beers on tap, in addition to wine.
