Brian and Bruce Bergeson founded this cozy coffeehouse in the historic Heritage District of Gilbert in 2008. Since opening in early 2009 they've been busy not only brewing great cups of joe but also roasting their own unique blends of beans. That's right, at Bergie's you'll not only find a great place to grab a drink and relax with a book, but also a quality cup of custom roasted coffee -- courtesy of the brothers themselves. Bergie's import their raw beans from Central America, South America, Africa, and Indonesia and roasts them in small batches to ensure they always achieve the desired flavor. As with any carefully crafted product, freshness is key and that's why the folks a Bergie's promise their beans are never more than 14 days old. We love enjoying their special roasts on the spacious outdoor patio, though it's hard not to love the charming cottage that houses the whole operation.
Oh, brother! There are a few reasons we fell in love with this place from the moment we saw it. First, it's run by easygoing 40-something siblings Bruce and Brian Bergeson, whose personable nature is kinda infectious. Then there's the fact they chose a deliciously enchanting cottage located smack dab in the middle of Gilbert's historic downtown (practically inches away from Joe's Real BBQ) in which to house their caffeinated cooperative.
