People often don't realize the value that is Benihana, so let's break it down. The average cost of an adult meal here is $35 without cocktails, but that includes: 1) entertainment from the teppanyaki chef doing things you wouldn't dare do at home, like making volcanoes out of onion rings; 2) the opportunity to sit near people you've never met; 3) amazing views of the Intracoastal from 15 floor-to-ceiling windows; 4) an opportunity to eat like a glutton; and 5) an experience that's out of the ordinary. Really, how many times can you go through the same white tablecloth dog and pony? Benihana has been around a while, and there's good reason. The chain was smart enough to update itself for the new millennium, offering specialty sushi rolls and a pretty inspired cocktail list, with items like a white peach sake sangria and pomegranate hibiscus margaritas. And, yeah, it remains the go-to for celebratory get-togethers, but why save all this for a special occasion?
