CLOSED Until Bella opened in the Quadrangle, only other chefs knew of Christopher Short and his skill in the kitchen. So a big "thank you" is due to this place for showcasing his talents for the rest of us. He can take a simple avocado soup and turn it into something remarkable. The chef's version of scallops-part of a dinner salad-may be the perfect Uptown bistro dish, being not too heavy yet pronounced in flavor. Even his burger is good. And the bar scene can be outstanding on weekends.

Went there a couple weeks ago. It is in the old Tin Star space across from the Quadrangle. Good food and service. It looks like it probably becomes a scene late night.
Went there for lunch and was blown away by the caprese salad. HUGE portions and the tomatoes had to have been heirlooms they were so delicious. Great bar, too.

The new-ish Quadrangle space has three key things going for it. First is location, obviously. Second is their no-reservations policy, forcing incoming guests to loiter around the bar until other diners clear out. Finally--and most important--owners Robert Petrie (not the one played by Dick Van Dyke) and Tony Porcaro, who once held sway at Nick & Sam's.
