The premises of the Beer Garden at Bohemia Hall in Astoria are strictly old-worldaa narrow, wood-appointed barroom with signs in Czech; beer pulls squirting delicious imported brands like Staropramen and Crystal; and a handbill listing bar snacks of headcheese, goulash, and tripe soup. But the barroom empties out into a spacious walled garden, often jammed with a multi-ethnic and intergenerational crowd including babies, bikers, working stiffs, hipsters, and grandmas of every race undulating to Czech hip-hop. Bohemia, indeed!
