Description

Culinary icon Lidia Bastianich opened this Theater District restaurant with her son Joseph way back in 1993 and its still extremely popular. Chef William Gallagher's kitchen serves classic Mediterranean cuisine like osso buco (braised veal shank), grilled swordfish, stuffed peppers and mixed seafood served over a bed of polenta. You can even add an extra course of the day's pastas to your meal for $9. One of the most popular options on the menu is the Sinfonia di Pasta, featuring a salad and three pastas served to you from the pan tableside for $22.95 during dinner and $17.95 during lunch. Drinking here is inexpensive as well; Becco offers both a regular Italian wine list and one where every bottle listed is only $25. The space is clean and conservative, with rustic wood beams running across the ceiling, white tablecloths, numerous wine racks and paintings of various vegetables hanging on the walls.—Keith Wagstaff
