Occupying two floors in an industrial space rife with metal chairs and modern decor, Basil's tasty, comforting Thai fare belies its sleek digs. Some of the best dishes rarely pop up on local menus. The peurk tod, or taro fries, stand out, as do sakhoo saimu, or tapioca pork dumplings, and the potent "saketinis" garnished with sake-injected lychees. That said, customers electing to go with something familiar ― like pad Thai or pineapple beef―won't be disappointed.
