Bash American Bistro is holed up like a dark cave in a drab suburban strip mall, but the overall effect is as comforting as a pile of kittens wearing hand-knit, woolen booties. Starters include fabulous housemade hummus painted with spicy kimchi sauce and served with wedges of grilled pita; gooey spinach dip with freshly fried tortilla chips has the same warming effect. Entrees are just as homey, like short ribs braised in Mr. Pibb, meaty bones with lightly sweet sauce that cuts right through the fat. Nothing on the menu is priced over $18, and each bottle on the wine list is under $40.Bash hosts a monthly wine tasting on the last Thursday of each month from 7 to 9 p.m.
Fan-frakin'-tastic! Everyone at this place is on point without being stuffy; they know their stuff and enjoy what they do! The food is incredible and this is a great place to eat if you live in western Broward. A "real food" place, not like all the chains that have polluted the dining scene in Broward. If you go, try the voodoo burger, the beggar's purses and the flourless chocolate cake (if available). The beer and wine selection is great and ever-evolving!
This restaurant has always impressed me. The number of menu selections is just right. The beer and wine choices are always decent, and the service is formal but laid back. The only "bad" thing about BASH was it's previous location, so I am excited to see it move to a better neighborhood. I wish them luck, and everyone in the area should stop in and experience the "new" restaurant on the block!

These days, everyone could use some comforting. And what's more calming than food handcrafted with passion and care at a decent price? That's precisely what you'll get at Bash, a homey little strip-mall café in Sunrise where nothing on the menu tops $19. Chef and owner Nikki Pettineo -- a private chef for the likes of football players Renaldo Hill and Ronnie Brown -- envisioned this low-cost café and wine bar as a place where even those hard-strapped by the recession...
