Description

Departing somewhat from the standard underlying cruisiness of your average gay bar, Barracuda strikes a relaxed pose between fun and stylish. Comprising a well-lit back room stocked with ample cushioned seats around a pool table and a flirty front room stocked with spunky barmen and at least one reasonably dark corner, patrons can choose what takes their fancy and no one gets too angsty about how their hair is looking. Regular drag shows happen weekly and two-for-one happy hour is from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Men can’t be counted on—the pigs—but the long-running hangout Barracuda can be: for cute bartenders, a spunky drag show, and some late-night company before heading home for Forensic Files. Prance in on virtually any night—after showing your valid ID to Joe the genial door guy—and you’ll be guaranteed an assortment of mixed nuts to talk Madonna with in the front room. Keep walking and, in the back, drag stars like Shasta Cola, Peppermint, Shequida, and Sherry Vine take the stage on various nights for patter, lip-sync, and even some actual singing. After a few weeks, you’ll feel like you can rely on these people more than your real family. Way more.
