Founded in 1920, the original Beanery (there are now offshoots in Pasadena, Westwood, Burbank and Santa Monica) remains a landmark thanks to its loud and loose vibe and super-gigantic menu (including their famous, self-proclaimed "2nd Best Chili in LA"). Colorful booths, loud rock (heavy on the classic stuff), pool tables, TVs with the must-see game of the moment and karaoke keep the Bean boppin late. The brewskie crowd can get pretty sloppy, especially in the adjacent bar and outdoor areas, perhaps inspired by boozer ghosts of Barney's past including Charles Bukowski, Jim Morrison and Janis Joplin, said to have boozed up here the night she died.
March Madness just started, and whether you spent much too much time filling out your bracket or gave up and just let Nate Silver take the wheel, you probably could use a place with beer and maybe eve... More »

Menu is massive with heaps to choose from. Best feature has to be the plasmas all over the place so we sports lovin' Aussies can get our dose of action on the sports front. It's in our blood!
This place literally has anything you could dream up! I love the rice and bean side combo. Also, the fresh veggies are great.
Open 365 days a year. A menu the size of the Los Angeles Times. Okay, it's not THAT big, but the size of it always puts a smile on my face. Great place to play pool (I never lose, care to play?). I tend to ignore the NO GAMBLING sign. The bar can get pretty packed which I think is the only negative. Down to earth fun seeking crowd. I love this place.
