Event Review: Dani Zubia
Dani Zubia is a self-taught musician. She plays guitar, mandolin, bass, harmonica and piano.
Although she was born into a family of musicians, it is by her own self-taught determination that she has become a serious musician and songwriter. Dani Zubia has been playing guitar and writing songs since she was 11 or 12 years old. After moving to the beach in Los Angeles and then to Kona, Hawaii for a couple of years. Dani came back to Phoenix, enrolled at Metro Arts Institute High School in Downtown Phoenix and got real serious about songwriting and playing. Dani has been playing “out” for the past year – most notably opening for the Pistoleros & Dead Hot Workshop Christmas Eve 2012 to a sold out Crescent Ballroom crowd.
Dani is currently writing and recording what will be her debut record, set to be released sometime this Summer 2013. There are tracks already recorded and they sound awesome. Dani is also studying film & photography, she’s reading everything she gets her hands on and has a trip to Europe planned for March 2014. Stay tuned for more. Dani is 15 years old. The future is hers for the taking!
Her father Lawrence Zubia & Uncle Mark Zubia front The Pistoleros, a band that has been playing in the Valley for the last 20 years. Dani’s grandfather Raul Zubia was a Mariachi musician for 40 years in the Valley – Mariachi Loco.
