Visiting a bar that makes its own beer can be a dodgy affair. Though it is a noble art to brew one's own, it doesn't always work out for the best. Beers may turn out watery or strangely flavored, or you could end up with a handful of varieties that all somehow manage to taste the same. The fine brewers at Town Hall Brewery don't have these problems. The rotating menu of seasonal brews and experiments in alcoholic science is usually varied and well-executed. There's West Bank Ale, named after the pub's neighborhood, which is a classic English-style pale ale, meaning not too hoppy, but flavorful enough to never be confused with Miller. The Black Water Oatmeal Stout is as rich as stouts come, black in color, rich and smooth in flavor with vanilla and caramel undertones. Bright Spot Golden Ale is always a popular choice. Not much of a drinker? Prohibition Pride Root Beer is a beverage not to be missed. Order up a side of pub fries, some fish 'n' chips, or a fresh salad, and you'll be set for a good time.
