Description

Following the same template as Joystix and the adjoining Eighteen Twenty Bar near Minute Maid Park, Midtown's Barcadia mixes booze, food and video games for children of the skeeball, Frogger and Mortal Kombat generation. Located next door to Reef/3rd Bar, Barcadia is packed with vintage arcade games and pinball machines, including a cherry KISS unit that has likely sucked down many a quarter. Tuesday nights feature cheap Texas pints and free play on all machines, while Mondays the bar offers up an all-night happy hour and half off all food. The only thing Barcadia lacks is your mother screaming at you to stop playing those damned games and finish your homework.

The staff was nice but the faux post punk hipster atmosphere didn't last long when the place started getting busy; that's when the Vegas style bottle service seating type rules were enforced. I feel for the employees, but I'm not sorry to see this place go; I'm sure the suits that run the place are working on a new scheme in some other location.
